Celebrating the Masters: Closer to Home

Golf fans everywhere are turning their attention to Augusta. Unless you’re one of the lucky few with tickets, there’s no better place to celebrate the Masters than right here in Pinehurst—the Home of American Golf. Whether you’re a Forest Creek member, a Pinehurst local, or just visiting, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the week without leaving North Carolina.

Play a Round on the South Course

Architect Tom Fazio drew inspiration for our South Course from Augusta National’s parkland-style layout, so it’s no surprise the playing experience feels familiar to fans. With rolling fairways, well-placed bunkers, and towering pines, it’s a scenic and challenging way to enjoy the spirit of the tournament from home.

Bring a few friends, walk the course, and take in the views—no TV required.

Masters-Inspired Menu at the Clubhouse

To help set the mood, Chef Frank and our in-house culinary team are preparing a special Masters Week menu featuring Southern-inspired favorites named after famed golfers.

Among several expertly crafted dishes, you can start with the savory Scottie Scheffler appetizer—veal and pork blend meatballs served over pomodoro and topped with grated parmesan—before diving into a stack of Jordan Spieth BBQ pork ribs.

Enjoy a slice of Ben Crenshaw cornbread, then finish strong with the traditional Dustin Johnson peach cobbler, served à la mode. Pair your plate with a classic Arnold Palmer and settle in for a week of great golf, food, and company.

Watch the Tournament with Friends

We’ll have the tournament on in the clubhouse throughout the week. Join fellow members to watch every round—from the ceremonial tee shots on Thursday to the final putt on Sunday.

Enjoy the themed snacks and flavorful drinks in a space that makes you feel right in the heart of the celebrations.

Explore Pinehurst During Masters Week

If you’re looking to get out and explore, Pinehurst has a lot to offer:

  • Stop by the World Golf Hall of Fame, now open in its new Pinehurst location.
  • Visit the Village of Pinehurst for shopping, dining, and a walking tour of local golf history.
  • Book a tee time with us and stay in the Masters mindset all week long.

Discover Forest Creek

Masters Week is about more than just watching great golf. It’s about celebrating the game’s history, its traditions, and the places that make it special.

Forest Creek is one of those places. From two nationally ranked courses to a welcoming clubhouse and a private, peaceful community, Forest Creek is where the golf lifestyle comes to life.

If you’re considering a move to Pinehurst or want to learn more about membership, this is a great time to see what Forest Creek has to offer.

Fried Green Tomato & Pimento Cheese Sandwich Recipe

Watching the Masters from home? You can still bring a taste of the tradition to your kitchen. This recipe combines two Southern favorites into one unforgettable sandwich. It’s simple to make, big on flavor, and perfect for pairing with an Arnold Palmer during Masters Week.

Ingredients:

  • 2 green tomatoes, sliced 1/4 inch thick
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • Salt and pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup pimento cheese (store-bought or homemade)
  • 4 slices of hearty sandwich bread
  • Crunchy lettuce (we like Butter or Romaine)

Directions:

  1. Soak tomato slices in buttermilk for 5–10 minutes.
  2. Mix cornmeal, flour, salt, and pepper in a shallow bowl.
  3. Dredge each tomato slice in the dry mix, then fry in hot oil until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels.
  4. Toast sandwich bread, then spread pimento cheese on one side of each slice.
  5. Add fried green tomatoes and assemble the sandwiches. Serve warm.

Pro Tips:

  • You can also serve them as separate appetizers or serve the fried green tomatoes with a dollop of pimento cheese on top.
  • Mix in some diced jalapeños to give the pimento cheese a spicy kick, or bacon crumbles for a smoky surprise!
